چکیده

Estimation of rock properties from seismic data is important for exploration and production activities in the petroleum industry. Considering compressional velocity—the speed propagating body waves formations—and quality factor (Q)—a measure frequency-selective energy losses through formations—both are usually estimated multichannel data. Velocity during processing reflection either time or depth domain. In marine acquisition, Q can be following sources: Vertical Seismic Profile (VSP) surveys, where sources located near sea surface geophones distributed at along a borehole; data, also receivers (conventional survey with streamers) on floor (use nodes Ocean Bottom Cables (OBC)). The aforementioned acquisition devices, VSP, conventional streamers, nodes, OBCs much more expensive than single-channel one receiver per shot due to cost operation. There numerous old new datasets academia oil industry that have been acquired devices. However, there paucity work addressing estimation velocity this type equipment. We investigate Using windowed discrete Fourier transform single trace, we calculate peak dominant frequency changes time. geologic environment, higher frequencies attenuated shallow depths (time), while lower remain deeper positions. Ultrasonic Velocities in Laboratory-formed Gas Hydrate-bearing Sediments

Gas Hydrates are widely distributed in the near surface at high latitudes and many ocean bottoms. Our laboratory measurements help calibrate the seismic and well log data that are used to ascertain the in situ distribution of hydrates. Ultrasonic velocities are measured in unconsolidated sand specimen under thermobaric conditions comparable to those found in shallow oceanic or permafrost region...

Faulting of Gas-Hydrate-Bearing Marine Sediments — Contribution to Permeability

Extensive faulting is observed in sediments containing high concentrations of methane hydrate off the southeastern coast of the United States. Faults that break the sea floor show evidence of both extension and shortening; mud diapirs are also present. The zone of recent faulting apparently extends from the ocean floor down to the base of gas-hydrate stability. We infer that the faulting result...

Geomechanical Constitutive Modelling of Gas-hydrate- Bearing Sediments

In this work and in order to consider theoretically the effect of gas hydrates on the mechanical properties of their host sediments, hydrate fraction was introduced as a state variable in the framework of a Critical State model. For the proposed model, the process of de-structuration and softening of natural clay was considered as a proxy for the gas-hydrate-bearing-sediments behaviour. The dev...

Response of Oceanic Hydrate-Bearing Sediments to Thermal Stresses

In this study we evaluate the response of oceanic subsurface systems to thermal stresses caused by the flow of warm fluids through non-insulated well systems crossing hydrate-bearing sediments. Heat transport from warm fluids, originating from deeper reservoirs under production, into the geologic media can cause dissociation of the gas hydrates. The objective of this study is to determine wheth...
